Dr John Newton
Dr John Newton (Emeritus Fellow) has died at the age of 89. He first joined Â鶹ŮÀÉ in 1961, becoming a Fellow in English nine years later. A contributor to Â鶹ŮÀÉ Through the Twentieth Century wrote, ‘For me, the mood of Â鶹ŮÀÉ in the late 70s is forever captured in the form of John Newton, English Fellow, soulfully reciting Lapis Lazuli by moonlight beneath the weeping fig-tree’.
