Matilda the Musical!

Thank you to everyone who came and supported our school show Matilda the Musical this week. It was fantastic to have a packed house on both evenings which was nothing less than the pupils and students deserved. I have to say that the performances were absolutely superb and a true coming together of the Arts on which, as a school, we place such value. I was fortunate to be able to attend both nights and have never felt prouder to be part of Sweyne Park. Each and every person contributed to the huge success of the show, from lead roles to cast members to sound, props, lighting and the backstage crew all of whom were supported by the expertise of our staff and Sixth Form students. Especial thanks must go to Mrs Townsend and Miss Can for coordinating and directing the whole event and to the Art and DT Departments and the Premises Staff for their amazing support.

And finally, the biggest thanks of all must go to our wonderful pupils and students who enthusiastically dedicated endless hours of rehearsal time to entertain us all and truly bring the 51Ƶ stage to life. Well done to the whole cast and crew!

On a separate but related note, huge thanks to our wonderful PTA who raised an incredible £286.46 from donations towards refreshments over the course of the two performances. I am told that this is the most amount they have taken at a school event for quite some time! If you are interested in joining our PTA, please come along to the next meeting on 26th March 2024, and email rbradley@sweynepark.com if you would like to know more.

Year 10 Exams

Good luck to all of our Year 10 pupils who start their exams on Wednesday 20th March.

These exams will run up to and including Wednesday 27th March.

Pupils have been provided with a copy of the exam timetable, and I am sure they will all do their very best and benefit from the experience in advance of their formal, external examinations next year.

Vape Detectors

Following on from my message in a recent edition of the Sweyne Park Times regarding the growing national concern around under-age vaping and illegal vapes being used on school premises across the country, we have now installed a number of vape detectors around the site.

Any pupils or students who are found to be vaping and/or bringing vapes of any sort into school will be sanctioned in accordance with our Behaviour Policy and, in the case of illegal vapes, the matter will also be reported to the Police.

End of Term Arrangements

With Easter falling so early this year it has felt like a very short, albeit productive, half-term.

Just to remind you that we will finish at 12.30pm on Thursday 28thMarch 2024 which will be a non-school uniform day.

We will look forward to welcoming all our pupils and students back to school at the usual time of 8.35 am on Monday 15th April 2024.

And Finally…

Have a lovely weekend.
